He was a Moroccan Scholar and explorer, who traveled in medieval times. He visited most countries like Muslim and Non-Muslim lands, Central Asia, South- East Asia, India and China. He travels total 117,000 km and died in Morocco. He was a Geographer also. His family belonged to a Berber tribe as Lawata.

At the age of 21, in 1325 A.D., he was gone to Hajj to Mecca. To Mecca routes, he was gone from Tlemcen, Tunis. He spent several weeks at Cairo. From Cairo, he gone to Damascus and from there, he travels to Medina, the site of Muhammad. Then, from there, he journeyed to Mecca.

He also came to India during the reign of Muhammad bin Tughluq. From Peshawar, he crushed the Sutlej River near the city of Pakpattan, in modern day Pakistan. He visited Hansi, Haryana in India. He was known for his famous book Rehla in 14th century A.D. he also appointed as a judge by Sultan.

According to Ibn Batuta, the Mangoes are produced highly in India through planting of the Kernel.

Rehla book consists 3 types-

o  Journey with Morocco to meet other pilgrim before travelling beyond the local area.

o  He described the journey to Hajj.

o  Journey to foreign lands.

Its means that the total journey of Ibn Battuta was written in the book name Rehla.
